Obituary for Arthur Edmund Goik

Arthur E. Goik, age 96 years, died peacefully Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Sheffield Place in Bay City. He was born on May 21, 1922 to the late Stanley and Angeline (Zychowka) Goik in Auburn, MI. Art served proudly in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart. On October 26, 1946, Art married Florence Wejrowski in St. Anthony’s Church in Fisherville and she preceded him in death in 2007. He was a member of All Saints Parish (St. James Church) and served as an usher for many years. Art was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3590 in Auburn and charter member and contributor of the National WWII Museum. Art retired from Dow Chemical in Midland after 40 years of service. He enjoyed time fishing and hunting, traveling, playing euchre and smear, horseshoes, blooper ball, enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, playing violin, accordion, harmonica and spending time with his family.

Surviving Art are his six children: Carol Kukla, Diane (Jim) Neal, Sharon Willinsky, Mark (Roxi) Goik, Brian (Carol) Goik and Darin (Margaret) Goik; daughter-in-law, Kay Goik; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Alice Schrader and Margaret Wejrowski. He was preceded in death by his wife Florence; sons, Wayne and Michael Goik; son-in-law, Ron Kukla; brother, Chester (Helen) Goik; mother-in-law, Frances Wejrowski; brothers-in-law, Bill Schrader and Leonard Wejrowski.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at All Saints Parish-St. James Church, 710 Columbus Avenue, Bay City, with Fr. Dale A. Orlik presiding. Military Honors will follow conducted by the U.S. Army and Bay County Veterans Council. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, Alzheimer’s Association, or the Disabled Veterans of America. Visiting hours with the family are Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 PM in the W. A. Trahan Funeral Chapel and in the church on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the Liturgy. For on-line sentiments:
