Obituary

Margaret M. Groulx of Munger, age 85, died Friday, April 7, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones at McLaren Bay Region following a brief illness. She was born to the late Oscar and Mary (Samyn) Duyck on July 30, 1931 in Hampton Township. On Sept. 13, 1952, she married Joseph F. Groulx. Side by side, they raised their family, farmed their land and traveled the country in their Ute Liner and Coachman motorhomes until his death in 1998. She enjoyed growing and canning vegetables, dancing, game shows, playing euchre and marbles, wintering in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, and reminiscing. She was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish, the Essexville K of C Ladies Auxiliary, the League of Catholic Women and Men, the St. Norbert Church Altar Society and volunteered in the Munger Potato Festival poker tent for more than 30 years.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her six children: Paul Groulx (Carol Cristoforo), Judy (David) Harris, Karen (Kip) Pavlawk, Terry Groulx (Shirley Mayer), Donna (John) Rychwa, and Diane (Lee) Thompson; her grandchildren: Rebecca (Chris) Block, Brian (Valerie) Groulx, Michael (Jennifer) Legner, Amanda (Kenn) Bouchard, Steven (Jessica) Legner, Kristen (Blaine) Price, Jenna Pavlawk (Shawn Proulx), Christopher Groulx, Jordan (Samantha) Groulx, Russel Groulx, Eric (Ashley) Rychwa, Preston and Brady DuFresne and Gabe and Jake Thompson, and grandson in law Eddie Szczepanik; her great-grandchildren: Lauren Groulx, Garrett Legner, Ella and Gemma Bouchard, Joseph and Morgan Legner, Jase and Colt Groulx, and Braiden Katzinger; two brothers: Arthur (Marjorie) Duyck and Robert (Patricia) Duyck; her sister, Diane (John) Martin; brother and sisters in law: Catherine Groulx, Lucille Budzinski, and Marge and Leon Giffel; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her son Michael Groulx, her daughter-in- law Sharon Groulx, her granddaughter Megan Mae Szczepanik, her father and mother in law Leo R. and Mary T. Groulx; her brothers and sisters in law Jerome and Nancy Duyck, Mary and James McCure, Leo Groulx, and Anthony Budzinski; and her loving companion of 10 years Vernon Weiler.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish (St. Norbert Church, 126 W. Munger Rd., Munger, MI). The Rev. Joseph Schabel will preside with Rite of Committal following at St. Patrick Mausoleum. She will lie in state at the church Wednesday from 9-10 a.m. Visiting hours with the family are Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the Vigil Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at W. A. Trahan Funeral Chapel.
