Obituary for Ronald J. Bellor

Ronald James Bellor of Bay City, age 83, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2017 at Brian’s House, surrounded by his loving family and his lifelong friend Fritz Anthony. He was born October 11, 1933 in Bay City, Michigan to the late James and Dorothy (Socia) Bellor. Ron honorably served our country with his dedicated commitment in the U. S. Navy from 1952 to 1960, during the Korean War, as a radioman RM3 and he was honorably discharged in 1960. Ron married Audrey (Sesler) on July 21, 1962. He is survived by his wife Audrey and their three children: Michael (Elizabeth) Bellor of Bay City; Patricia (John) Walther of Essexville; and Matthew (Ann Marie) Bellor of Cape Coral, FL. Nine grandchildren: Chris and James Bellor; Josh and Heather Bellor; and Luke (Natalie), Isaac, Emily, Noah and Hannah Walther. Four step-grandchildren: Tressa (Alex) Gallardo, Jeremy (Heather) Packard; Jeffrey Packard; and Molly (Mark) Williams. One great-grandchild, eight step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his wife and children, Ron is survived by two sisters, Judy Weller and Yvonne (John) Waibel; and his brother Gregory (Anne) Bellor. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy Bellor, his sister and brother-in-law Darlene and Joseph Terbrack and his brother-in-law James Weller.
Ron attended St. James Grade School and High School. After finishing High School, he joined the U. S. Navy. Upon discharge from the Navy he attended Saginaw Valley and received his Business Degree. He later attended Northeastern School of Commerce and upon graduation he began teaching Business Courses. He taught at the School for 25 years while working for Robert F. Murray Co. Ron later joined into a partnership with Wilson Ward (Bellor & Ward, CPA’s) until Wilson’s death. He continued working as a Certified Public Accountant on his own, later sharing an office with his dear friend Jim Bellon until he retired in 2004 after 56 years in Public Accounting.
Ron was an active member of All Saints (St. James) Parish. Ron was one of the first lay people to act as commentator/reader after Vatican II. He served as the Chairman of St. James Grade School and All Saints School Boards, Parish Council and Finance Committee for many years. During his lifetime, Ron was a member of the Michigan Assoc. of CPA’s, AICPA, Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge 88, American Legion, St. Vincent DePaul, Ushers Club and the Legion of Mary. Ron was devoted to the Blessed Mother and the rosary, which he said daily. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were Ron’s pride and joy and he loved spending time with them. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, reading and crossword puzzles.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Monday, October 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Parish (St. James Church), 710 Columbus Avenue, Bay City, MI. Ron will lie in state in Church from 10:00 AM until the service. Fr. Jose Maria Cabrera and Fr. George Serour will co-celebrate and Rite of committal will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to All Saints Parish (St. James Church) Langley Hall or Brian’s House. Visiting hours are Sunday from 1:00 to 8:00 PM, with the rosary at 2:00 PM and the Vigil Prayer Service and K of C Council #14211 Bible Presentation at 7:00 PM at the W. A. Trahan Funeral Chapel.
