He is also survived by a sister Carolyn Lynch (Bob) and a brother Wayne Holmes (Diane) along with nieces and nephews.

As a child Leon would be remembered sitting on the fence across from Visitation Church where he sometimes attended. Throughout his life Leon enjoyed boxing for the Golden Gloves, playing softball, fishing in White River, Canada, sitting in the garage at home with friends and having a beer. Leon retired in 1997 from Farmer Peet’s after 38 years as a meat cutter. He liked playing competitive bean bag (Reilly's Rules) and poker with family and friends. Leon had an inventive spirit and was always trying to create things which included beer can air planes. He made boxes to fit items every Christmas (a talent inherited by his daughter Leann). He was a member of the Bay City Eagles Aries 1010 and the Moose Lodge #169. People will remember his love of Halloween and other special holidays. Walleye fish fries were an annual treat for many years. Leon always had a full candy drawer for adults and kids alike. All the kids enjoyed a chance at the “money jar” he kept.
