Obituary for Debra G. Duggan

On Tuesday, June 19, 2018, Debra Gene (DeCourcy) Duggan passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side. Debbi opened the door of her heart as a young girl when Jesus knocked (Rev. 3:20) and was thereby reborn a new creation (2Cor. 5:17), gaining confidence throughout her earthly life that she will enjoy eternity in the loving presence of her Creator (John 5:24; 1John 5:11-12).
Born November 3, 1953 in West Branch, MI, she was the fourth child of the late Robert W. and Margaret M. (Burgher) DeCourcy. Debbi married her Ogemaw Heights High School sweetheart Patrick O. Duggan on November 27, 1971 at the First United Methodist Church in West Branch and they have shared 46 joyful years. Surviving besides her husband are daughter Margaret and her husband Jason Forgash, daughter Gene Duggan and her partner Katie Raddatz, grandsons Dakota Duggan Forgash and Garett Robert Forgash, sister Renee (Don) Fincher, brother William (Jane) DeCourcy, brother-in-law Monty (Phyllis) Grimes, many generations of nieces, nephews and cousins, and many wonderful friends. Debbi was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sharon Grimes, parents-in-law William H. and Mabel Duggan, Patrick’s mother Marjorie (Moates) Duggan, all of her grandparents, uncles and aunts, a special niece Samantha Dobson, and Debbi’s cherished dog Skippye Bud.
Debbi considered her proudest calling to be Wife, Mom and Ama (Grandma) and her family was just as proud of her in all those roles. She also worked many jobs to support her husband’s education and provide for her family, most recently serving the Essexville-Hampton Public Schools as a secretary both at Garber High School and Cramer Junior High, retiring in July 2016 after 20 years.
Debbi’s family truly appreciated the excellent care and support we all received from Nicole and Jennifer from Heartland Hospice.
A Memorial Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Trahan Funeral Chapel with Pastor Chris McCrumb officiating. Visiting hours with the family will be on Friday and Saturday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Trahan Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may make a contribution in Debbi’s name to Bay County Roadrunners Wrestling, c/o Tim Markel Treasurer of BCRW at 13 W. Linwood Rd., Linwood, MI 48634, to assist those boys and girls in that youth sport who might not otherwise be able to participate. For on-line sentiments: www.trahanfc.com
