Obituary for DIANA M. (DIANE) PETERS

At the age of 74 years, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister Diane died at her home Friday, November 3, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born to Bernard and Mary (LaDrigue) Shinkel on November 14, 1942 in Saginaw, where she graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul High School, class of 1960. Diane moved from Saginaw in 1974 to South Lyon for nine years and has lived in Bay City since 1984. Before retiring, she owned several McDonald’s restaurants for thirty-four years. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish (St. Vincent DePaul Church). Diane was very generous with her time and served on the board for the Boys & Girls Club of Bay County for 25 years; Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities for 13 years; Bay County Child & Senior Citizens Center for 20 years; and was a member of the Bay City Yacht Club for 32 years.

On October 10, 1970, she was united in marriage to Lawrence M. Peters and they shared their lives together for over 47 years. Larry survives Diane, along with their two sons, Larry Peters II (Rebecca) and Chad Peters; a stepson, Jay Peters; three grandchildren, Brendan, Nicklas, and Addison Peters; one brother and three sisters, Bernie Shinkel (Peggy), Maureen Collver, Jean Spyker (Ed), and Sandy Shaver (Roger); along with a wonderful friend, Julie Wiskup and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Shinkel, sister-in-law, Pat Shinkel, and a nephew, Douglas Shinkel.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Parish (St. Vincent DePaul Church), 2956 E. North Union at Two Mile, Bay City, MI. Diane will lie in state in church Wednesday after 10:00 AM. Rev. John Sarge will preside and cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Boys & Girls Club of Bay County, Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities, or Bay County Child & Senior Citizens Center.
