Barb was born on February 18, 1931 in Imlay City to Andrew and Mae Bila Maples. She passed away on March 17, 2018 at her home in Saginaw. She married Donald R. Crankshaw on October 28, 1948 in Imlay City, and later moved to Lapeer where they raised a family. In 1986 they settled in Saginaw and wintered in Florida. Barb worked for the Lapeer Intermediate Schools and the Saginaw Intermediate Schools, retiring in 2004. She was a self-published author having written several books, short stories, poems, and newspaper articles. Barb was a member of Kochville United Methodist Church, Eastern Stars and Red Hat Society. She enjoyed collecting elephants, visiting with her many friends, playing card games, music, reading, and watching television – especially her beloved Detroit Tigers.

Barb was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She is survived by her children, Dawn (Darryl) Knox of Pahrump, NV, Starr (Mike) Luth of Tawas City and Marc (Julene) Crankshaw of Belgium, WI; and her most precious grandson, Collin Luth of Dallas, GA. Also surviving are her best friend and sister, Beverly Lewis and her husband Ed Thomas of Capac; her sister, Mary Jo Maples of Troy; a sister-in-law, Lyn Maples of San Antonio, TX; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, father and mother, her brother, Russ Maples, and a sister, Sandra Teetzel.

Cremation has taken place and interment will be in the Crankshaw family plot at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lapeer. Arrangements have been entrusted to the W.A. Trahan Funeral Chapel. For on-line sentiments: www.trahanfc.com
