Irene Kulczyk, our precious mom, granny and great grandma “GG” passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 in Alexandria, Virginia, surrounded by love. She was always known for her outgoing and warm personality, wonderful sense of humor, kind and empathetic nature, beautiful smile, and her strong faith in the Holy Spirit. Her ability to love was abundant. These endearing qualities never faded even while she endured Alzheimer’s disease/dementia for several years. Irene was born in East Chicago, Indiana (Harbor) on December 2, 1924 and was married for 60 years to Alexander Kulczyk, who preceded her in death in 2004. She retired from Alma (Polymid) Plastics and later worked for several years as a hostess, “McMama,” at McDonalds’ restaurants in Essexville and Bay City. Irene most treasured her life as mom, granny and GG. As she joins her husband; beloved son, Carl; mama and all 7 siblings in heaven, those left to honor her memory include her children and daughter in-law: Katherine (Harland) Kaul of Saginaw; James (Caroline) Kulczyk of Traverse City; Margaret (Mark) Suminski of Frankenmuth; David (Donna) Kulczyk of Sacramento, CA: Madeline (Chris) Chulumovich of Alexandria, VA; and Pam Kulczyk of Des Moines, IA. Irene was Granny to 11 grandchildren: Jonathon, Jeremy, Stephanie, Luke, Sarah, Hannah, Caleb, Ezra, Kat, Susan, and Pedro. And her grandchildren gave her 10 great grandchildren. Irene was also loved and adored by many nieces and nephews and by her Sunrise of Alexandria family. Irene’s cat (dog), Buddy, also survives her. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 10:30 AM in St. Charles & Helena Catholic Church, Clio, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of your choice in Irene’s honor. Visitation will be Monday, July 26, 2010 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the W.A. Trahan Funeral Chapel , Bay City and on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Church.

We will always miss Irene's love and welcoming hug and friendly smile. She always treated Helen and I as close family and she will be dearly missed. May God grant her everlasting peace in Heaven where she will have no problem fitting in with the other Saints so dear to God.
